Delivering features fast for Position Green

Position Green is a scale-up entrusted by its investor to become a leader in the Nordics and a major player in Europe’s sustainability reporting market. The strategy is to develop the technologies fast, outpacing competitors’ innovation rhythm, to become a recognised major player.

Business case

In our product strategy, we had identified the need to provide public information about companies right after they are entered by a customer. Our goal was to create a proof of concept to show that we can align with a technology seen by some of our competitors and answer a customer’s need.

Initial phase

We conducted customer interviews, mock-up showcase and competitor analysis in order to determine the market appetite for the feature as well as define what would be a good first step for the experience. We learned that while relevant customer would quickly expect more from the data we provide.

The challenge

What turned out to be the most complicated was to find a suitable data partner and create an experience around its capacity. The project started with a provider in mind that turned out not to be relevant. I participated in the market research and drafted several mock-ups about what the experience would be like if we chose a partner over another.

Approach

In this project, we touched on how a company gets added into the system as well as what information is available to customers to see and edit. Introducing data that can’t be changed to the experience. I worked with the tech lead on the various possibilities for the data model and ownership, as this change would affect what the customer would be able to do with their data. Exposing how different data structure changes the final experience.

Solution

We choose the basic package of a cheap and readily available partner. The experience keeps customers in control of critical data inputs about the company they enter, but introduces a list of secondary data that is in our control. We prepared a roadmap for how we can expand the package from the provider, and introduce our own layer of information, and later on, mix several data partners together. The delivery takes the form of a roadmap with today, tomorrow and later designs.

Learning

We had to be very flexible and open-minded to several kinds of solutions in this project. Even with a customer insight and strategy, we had to adapt to the reality of what we could achieve as a first concept within our time window. Designing for several possibilities and working with backend infrastructure was very insightful in the understanding of how capabilities built today can be expanded to provide experiences in the future.
The trade-off today for tomorrow became very clear to me.

I worked with Jeremie when I was a Product Manager and he was the UX Designer on my team. Jeremie is quick to act and focused on moving work for ward, which helped us maintain momentum even in complex projects. He was never afraid to challenge assumptions and often asked “why,” ensuring our decisions were grounded in real needs. His strong user focus came through clearly in both discussions and design work.
Jeremie is reliable when it comes to timelines and takes responsibility for delivering on time. He’s also skilled at shifting between projects and adapting quickly when priorities change. On top of that, he’s curious and eager to learn, which made collaboration smooth and productive.
