Gigapay for senders

Gigapay is an invoice consolidation provider that allows companies to send payments to very small suppliers like influencers. I worked on improving our UI solution for receivers allowing them to better control their systems.

Business case

Historically Gigapay strengths were provided in API integrations and deals made between platforms and the founders who are developers. As we expanded the need became to improve our brand and show seriousness and ease of use in both our website and web application.

Initial phase

Research with engineering lead and customers to understand how and Sender work with a Receiver We looked into the payment flow and what kind of edit and rectifications can be done to a payment.

The challenge

For customers using the platform, one of the key challenges was to understand what needed to be done. They have made a payment but in a lot of cases were not aware that it had not reached a receiver. Gigapay was also adding new features and the challenge also became to expand the system beyond its original simple shell.

Approach

Create highly visible cues to help and guide the customer into knowing where work needs to be done. This helps them understand which payment is received and which receiver is ready to work.

Solution

After conducting interviews and usability tests, strong from the newly established design system. I redesigned the web application to serve the newest features. I also created a specific view with clear and consistent cues into which payments need attention from our customers.

Learning

It is never just about adding the missing features. For this project, I was about to give up on basic user testing research to cut time. Our only goal was to implement the missing features from API users to web application users. But we have found out that the new features were almost useless compared to the needs people had.
